Our cruise ship arrived in Kilauea, Hawaii on the day the infamous volcano erupted. We were literally just yards away when the ground rumbled and the eruption began. This painting is an expression of my unique experience.

The width of the sides of this wood cradle board afforded me the opportunity to add the famous poem "The Sea" on all 4 sides of this painting. The poem was my inspiration for paint and prose! My calligraphy, purposely done with brush and paint, mimics  the flow and natural ebb of the sea.
